Mayor Weddle and Council Members were proud to attend the first stop of the Kentucky Senate tour of Eastern Kentucky yesterday, where major funding announcements were made.
The London - Laurel County Chamber of Commerce hosted community and business leaders at Creekside Gardens London KY as Senate President Robert Stivers and Senator Brandon J. Storm - Kentucky, 21st District outlined the historic funding that London and surrounding areas received in the budget. This includes $1M for the London Tourism & Parks Fairgrounds Project, and $1M for the City of London City Plaza, with many more funded projects in the county and surrounding areas.
Thank you Senator Storm for supporting these projects and continuing to show pride in the community! We are excited about continued opportunity, partnership, and growth!

Yesterday at the City of London Council Meeting, Mayor Weddle spoke about an opportunity for London households to become members of the PHI Cares program.
Normally $65/yr per household, an offer has been given to the city for $9/yr per household. If accepted the city would add $0.75/mo to household water bills to cover the membership.
PHI Cares will ensure a medical flight through PHI will not cause any financial obligation at a time when the last thing you need to worry about is the cost of a medical flight. You can learn more at https://phicares.com/how-it-works/
We would like your thoughts on this opportunity. We understand that all of our passionate residents want to be able to address any additional cost they pay to the city. We will be holding a Town Hall Meeting on June 3rd at 5:30PM at the Community Center. We also have a page set up at https://www.londonky.gov/phiproposal/ to find more information and let your voice be heard.
The City of London will not gain any funds from this opportunity. This is completely for the residents, so if they don't want it, it won't happen.
We are excited about this opportunity and greatly appreciate PHI for offering it. Now it's up to you London. Do you want this?

When this happens, it's usually because the owner only shared it with a small group of people, changed who can see it or it's been deleted.

Yesterday our community came together for the Mayor's Prayer Breakfast, with over 200 individuals joining in unity and solidarity. We had great prayer, food, and conversations with the community! We also presented a Petition of Support, affirming the importance of personal expression and the freedom to hold one's beliefs. With over 150 signatures, this overwhelming support is evidence of our commitment to fostering an environment where every voice is respected and heard.
This event became an opportunity for all members of the community to not only practice their faith but also to show that personal freedoms are still cherished here. It is important to recognize that just as Americans have the right to not be religious, they also have the right to be.
Every member of our community whether they pray or not, strives for an abundance of quality of life, joy, and positive progress. Yesterday prayer for the community and its leaders was the action demonstrated to promote that goal. Many City of London employees and leaders, including Mayor Weddle, are Christian and proud to pray and participate in other displays of faith, but inclusivity remains at the heart of our efforts, acknowledging and welcoming our non-religious community members as integral parts of our diverse tapestry.
Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to this meaningful gathering. Thank you for praying with us, and standing for hope, freedom, and prosperity. Let's continue to work together, embracing our differences while building a stronger, more inclusive community for all.
We are continuing the Petition of Support online at https://www.londonky.gov/petition-of-support/
“We firmly uphold the fundamental right to personal expression and the freedom to hold one's beliefs dear. Every individual, regardless of creed or conviction, deserves the liberty to gather and pray without interference. Just as we refuse to dictate others' beliefs, we reject any attempts to curtail our own. Together, we stand in solidarity for the preservation of these cherished freedoms.”
